What's the difference between microcement, venetian plaster, and limewash?
These are three distinct finishes with different looks and applications. Microcement is a cement-based coating that creates seamless, waterproof surfaces — ideal for floors, bathrooms, and pool decks. Venetian plaster is a lime-based finish trowelled in layers and burnished to a smooth, luminous, marble-like effect — best for feature walls and living spaces. Limewash is a thin, brush-applied lime wash that creates a soft, matte, chalky finish with natural colour variation — perfect for bedrooms and interiors. We can help you choose the right one based on your space and the look you're after.

How much do decorative finishes cost?
Pricing depends on several factors: the type of finish, the complexity of the texture, the surface area, surface condition, and accessibility. As a general guide, artisan plaster and microcement finishes are a premium investment — but they last far longer than paint and add lasting value to your space. How long does a project take?
Timelines vary based on the scope and finish type. A single feature wall typically takes 2–3 days, including surface preparation, application, and drying time between layers. A full room may take 4–7 days. Larger commercial projects are scheduled based on total surface area and coordination with other trades. We provide a clear timeline estimate with your quote.
Can these finishes be applied over existing surfaces?
Yes. Microcement can be applied over existing tile, concrete, and drywall without demolition. Venetian plaster and limewash can be applied over painted drywall, provided the surface is in good condition and properly primed. Wallpaper should be fully removed first. During our consultation, we assess the existing surface and handle all necessary preparation.
Is microcement suitable for bathrooms and pool decks?
Absolutely. Microcement is inherently waterproof when properly sealed, making it ideal for bathrooms, showers, pool surrounds, and outdoor terraces. For pool decks, we use slip-resistant formulations that stay cool underfoot. Venetian plaster can also be used in bathrooms when sealed, though we recommend microcement for areas with direct water contact.
How durable are these finishes?
Extremely durable. Microcement is resistant to wear, scratches, and water — it performs well in high-traffic areas and wet environments. Venetian plaster is harder than standard drywall compound and far more resilient than paint. Both finishes last decades with proper care. Limewash is naturally breathable and ages beautifully, developing richer character over time.
How do I maintain and clean the finishes?
Day-to-day care is simple. Dust with a soft, dry cloth or microfibre duster. For marks or light stains, wipe gently with a damp cloth — avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners. Sealed surfaces may benefit from periodic re-sealing depending on wear. We provide specific care instructions tailored to your finish type when we complete the project.
Can I see samples before committing?
Absolutely. We create custom sample boards for every project — hand-applied with the actual material and technique so you see a true representation of the finished surface, not a factory swatch. You can view samples in your space under your lighting conditions before any work begins. This step is included in our process.
Do your finishes contain harmful chemicals?
Our venetian plaster and limewash products are made from natural materials — primarily lime, marble dust, and mineral pigments. They're VOC-free, non-toxic, and naturally breathable, which means they help regulate indoor humidity and resist mould growth. This makes them an excellent choice for bedrooms, nurseries, and anyone who values healthy indoor air quality.

We take extra care with overhead application to ensure clean, even coverage.
